Magic of the Known World & Andromeda
Across the Known World, magic is a frail yet powerful wellspring of energy. It is a force that exists in everything and everyone, yet it is a force that is only as noticeable as one makes it to be, and even then, it is not everything it seems.
Magic - ‘mana,’ ‘aura,’ or ‘ley energy’ in other regions of the Known World - is a unique form of energy that has persisted for as long as the world has. Long ago, it was a primal, metaphysical energy that altered the landscape and granted unique strengths to the ancient races that have long-since faded. However, since those mythic ages, magic has now become a subtler element of the land, and so it has grown incredibly weaker. Magic persists in all life still, and living creatures bear some semblance of it, however it is now a vastly inferior energy of the world and can no longer be channeled with simple ease.
To better define today’s state of magic, it is officially regarded as a natural element of the world; an aspect of life itself, and to some extent, an extension to the Light itself. It remains a metaphysical state that works in tandem with all other forms of matter in the land, but as time has progressed, it is no longer as rampant or primal as it originally was. Magic affects the land in far more subtle ways, no longer influencing dramatic changes in the landmass for instance. These energies can still be felt to a partial degree, all in part to the inherent magic living in the souls of the living.
All walks of life bear magic in the same way, but the type of magic varies by their environment. For instance, all Fae-like creatures always bear magic akin to the very regions they originated, the Fae, which revolve around mystical and illusive powers. Those native to the depths inherit the magic of the seas and tides, often including healing energies or hydrokinetic evocations. Creatures born outside of their natural territories still inherit similar magics, but the strength and awareness of such varies equally.
It is true, then, that all creatures of the Known World - the living races, plantlife, animals - all possess a small force of magic within them. However, this energy existing in them is severely weak and, on its own, does not even offer any benefits by itself. Even those with innate talent for magic have found their own energies dwindling over time.
Still, there are means to utilize magic and manifest it as something else. Through the motivation and sheer willpower to bear this energy, one can empower - enchant, rather - everyday items into something far more useful. Combining their motives and even the environment, the efficiency and strength of the outcome varies. Regardless, magic is transferred from one’s very soul to their intended item.
As magic has dwindled over time, many scholars and researchers have studied the means to extend the duration of these fading energies. Rituals of various designs, spells containing arcane power of ancients, or even joint efforts of other souls can yield more effective results. However, careless actions can stir dangerous results, thus it is wise to maintain proper grounds before manifesting anything with magic.
From the Known World, magic stretches in an increasingly weak state, yet the presence remains strong. Even in these strange lands of Andromeda, the magic from the edges of the region is frail. However, as one travels further into the deeper lands of this realm, magic becomes far more prevalent. This can be observed from the empowered creatures and altered landmasses. A special note to consider is that the magic outside of Andromeda’s borders are extraordinarily weaker as it travels within these regions; thus, as creatures with magic enter Andromeda, their innate talents are oftentimes suppressed. At this very moment, it is unknown as to why this occurrence is taking shape, however if the stars that guide indicate anything -- there is a reason. That very reason remains shrouded in the stars and shall remain unknown until the skies part…

Magic in Roleplay
Magic in the world of Andromeda exists, but is much weaker on the outskirts of the continent where our story takes place. Your soul, experience, and mana are all the same thing. Magic exists in every living thing to varying degrees. It cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred. Sometimes, it can be transferred in unexpected ways.
Through will or ritual, magic can occur on the server, but it has a few rules:
- If you had magic in your backstory, it is much weaker on the server. Any impact from magic you inherit is minimal. This does not apply if it is a power given to you by your Origin.
- Healing would be curing minor injuries for others or intermediate self-healing and it would take a lot out of you.
- Premonitions and prophecies are mostly unclear. For a clear premonition, please put in a ticket.
- Any magic that would heavily impact another person’s play (bindings, soul contracts, enthrallments, emotional manipulation, etc) would not be achievable.
- Divine intervention, or trying to reach out to Roshana herself to receive direct support or guidance, is not possible (without a ticket).
- Minor illusions/self transformations are possible as long as they are not misused in RP. Please use your best judgement.
- Conjuration or transmutation of any kind would not be possible.
- Necromancy of another player or animals would not be achievable.
- Enchantments, as they function in Minecraft, are encouraged!
- Any special magic items would need to be approved by staff.
All of the above rules can be broken through an approved lore ticket. Submitting a lore ticket does not guarantee approval, but staff will do their best to work with you!
